Talking Triathlon

2023 is a wrap and we get together this week to present our awards for the year that was.

We discuss our race of the year, exciting moment of the year, the moments that made us scratch our heads and the things that happened which we didn't like.

We go through all the action including Daniela Ryf breaking the world record, Joe Skipper getting lost on course, Taylor Knibb doing all the distances and doing them well, Jan Frodeno beating Kristian Blummenfelt and much much more.

We are taking a break for 3 weeks but will be back in the new year!

As we approach the end of the year we look back with American triathlete, Taylor Spivey.

Taylor is one of the most consistent performers in short course triathlon and is bouncing back after a late season injury to secure her spot for the Paris Olympics after being left off the team in 2021.

We discuss the pathway to the Olympics, challenges short-course athletes are facing and why and why she is looking forward to racing longer distance races after Paris. Taylor talk a lot about the mental burden of being a professional triathlete and gives her thoughts on how things can be improved.

Max Stapley is back and has been promoted from guest to co-host this week as James couldn't make it.

We discuss the news that Kristian Blummenfelt thinks it will take a sub 29 minute 10km to win in Paris and why Max thinks that still probably wont be enough for Kristian to win. How hard short course triathlon is and why we are seeing more and more short course athletes step up in distance successfully.

We also preview India Wells 70.3 where Max thinks the Norwegian short course athletes might teach Sam Long a lesson.

Basically, with Max on the show you know it is going to be good!
