Talking Triathlon

With the introduction of Super League Triathlon, the PTO attempted to make long course triathlon exciting and the announcement of the sub7/8 project, there is lots of triathlon coming to your screen. The question that needs to be asked though, is can triathlon work on TV?

This week we are joined by the SLT commentary team to find out what they think needs to be done to make triathlon work on tv. What is being done right, what needs to be improved and how we can make the sport we all love more successful.

Behind every great athlete there is a strong network of support and it just so happens that behind many of the world's best athletes is one super coach!

Joel Filliol is one of the most successful coaches in triathlon with Olympic medals, world championships and just about everything in between. Joel works with athletes like Vincent Luis, Mario Mola, Jake Birtwhistle and Katie Zaferes. We sat down with Joel and find out how he got into coaching, what he has learned from other athletes and coaches and what all of this uncertainty means for athletes around the world. A really insightful conversation with someone so integral to the highest performers in triathlon.

This week we turn our attention towards what we can expect to see in 2021 in triathlon.

Will the Olympics happen? Who will win? What about the 70.3 and Ironman World Championships? Can we finally see a return to long course championship racing or are we going to have to wait until 2022? What will this mean for athletes like Tim O'Donell, Jan Frodeno and even Daniella Ryf? We give our picks for the Kona, 70.3 and Olympic podiums and our thoughts on the chances of all of these races happening.
