Macca and MG are back in the ‘studio’ with a very special guest Formula 1 racing driver Jenson Button who happens to also be a pretty good triathlete.
Jenson talked about his journey into triathlon and his dreams for Kona and training whilst working as a F1 driver.
Macca shared the experience of being a part of the Crown Prince of Bahrain’s swim from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain – 31kms and change – a swim that proved to be a very challenging one and an honour to be a part of.
In another Middle East trip Macca took part in the Ride for Roy to honour and fundraise in memory of the triathlete Roy Nasr killed tragically in a bike accident.
The boys reviewed the weekend’s racing action in ITU at New Plymouth where Mario Mola took the honours ahead of Gomez.
Finally a wrap up of Ironman Asia Pacific in Melbourne with Chris sharing the experience from a coach’s perspective.
Don’t forget to check out the 2014 Thanyapura Supercamp – >> www.thanyapura.com/supercamp << which will be August 23rd-30th. Macca and MG with a live studio audience present a podcast reviewing the latest racing from the Southern Hemisphere including IMNZ, Husky Long course, Challenge Philippines and Devonport Tri.
First up Ironman New Zealand taken out by Marko Albert with a cracking second place to legend Cam Brown and a solid third from MaccaX friend Terenzo Bozzone.
The guys discuss the DNF from ‘supermodel’ Bevan Docherty. The girls’ race was won in record time by Meredith Kessler. MG asks if this has motivated Macca….
Next up Husky Long Course in NSW, Australia taken out by a very in form Pete Jacobs. Solid performances from other Aussies, Tim Reed and Sam Appleton with the girls’ race taken out by Liz Blatchford.
Macca told us of his Challenge Philippines experience where even getting behind a tuk tuk didn’t help. Is this the hardest race in the Southern Hemisphere?
Macca mixed with royalty when the royal princes of Bahrain raced at the Challenge event.
Devenport used to be one of the must do races in Australia – Macca infamously got banned from this race…….back in the day!
The experts then cast their eyes over the upcoming events, notably IM Melbourne and Abu Dhabi. Will Crowie win Melbourne, can Supermodel finish the race? Abu Dhabi short course will feature the Brownlee brothers.
Macca spoke about his upcoming plans – he’s off to Carnivale in Rio with Michael Phelps but before that he’ll be doing a charity ride in the UAE .
The heir to the Bahrain throne is swimming from Saudi Arabia to Bahrain – a cool 34km and Chris is joining on this crazy endeavor.
Other news: Camps are now on the website www.maccax.com/camps Places will fill fast…. Macca shoots a commercial for Under Armour’s launch in Australia with Rebel Sport. The guys finish up with questions from the facebook group and Big Ring gets on the line…. Please take the time to leave a review on itunes.

The boyz have on the first ever official guest, multiple Ironman winner and legend in the sport. Topics covered ...
MG and Macca welcome to the show our first international guest Jurgen Zack 8 Ironman distance wins to his name. Jurgen was a big part of the German dominance at this distance.
Jurgen talked about his voyage into triathlon and IM – starting as a track runner when an injury got him cycling. Then he found triathlon, taught himself to swim and started racing.
Initially he said he would NEVER race at Hawaii – it looked crazy.
He raced his first Hawaii in 1989 – a virtual unknown – and came 7th. He quickly came to realize he loved the atmosphere of Hawaii and would be back.
In 1997 Jurgen finished Roth in 7.51 only to be passed with one mile to go!
Jurgen Zack is not done yet – does he have unfinished business in Hawaii – will the Zack Attack be back?
Macca talked about his role as Caroline ‘Xena’ Steffen’s coach and also the disappointment of the Last Dance with Lance being postponed.
Macca, MG and Jurgen talked about the athletes coming across to long course – the likes of Gomez, Frodeno and the Brownlees – the Wind of Change is here and it’s going to be fascinating!
Also in the show – training camps for 2014 announced, Macca’s pick for the 70.3 Worlds and a wrap up of the Geelong 70.3 last week as well as a lot of fun and humour.
